DOGS - SIBERIAN HUSKY

SIBERIAN HUSKY

Meet Zodiac. He is a thorough bred Siberian Husky who lives with his girlfriend Kioki, a honey and beige dog, a  Malamute to be exact. Siberian Huskies and Malamutes are really  lovable dog breeds and are good with children. I suppose most people who consider owning a dog select a dog based on the dog's temperament, especially if they have small children. The picture below shows Zodiac and Kioki  getting a rinse from the girls after a long walk and playing in the park.

Zodiac is an absolute joy to own and I can add, he is a trouble free dog and low maintenance, unlike his girl friend Kioki. Zodiac makes a hole in the ground when he feels the call of nature and buries it afterwards whereas Kioki leaves her dogpiles all over the yard which is very unbefitting a lady but that's just her nature. Zodiac on the other hand is very choosy about what he eats. No GMO's and no cheap Pick 'n Pay or Shoprite brands of dog food, no sirree he only wants the best Montigo dog food. Kioki on the other hand eats anything or rather everything including Zodiac's share of the food. She simply thrives on leftovers but Zodiac will just smell it and walk away. He enjoys chewing on a large bone and play with it thereafter then  buries it. Kioki will bite her share of the bones into bits, scoff every last piece and go sniff out Zodaic's buried bone. Believe it or not, this is what they their dog-fights are about all the time.

Zodiac doesn't have a dog kennel but rather a large Wendy House which can be seen behind him but he never sleeps inside of it. He rather preferred digging a hole in the soil and he lays inside it. And the most peculiar thing about this dog  is that when ever it rains he finds a place to lie where he will get soaked to the skin then shakes until all his hair goes spiky. Kioki is scarred of rain and  runs like hell when there's a downpour and seeks shelter inside the Wendy house.. Its like they have completely opposite likes and dislikes and attitudes. They've been together for more than six months and during this entire time Kioki refused to mate with Zodiac which was the reason for some really vicious dog fights. Since Kioki won't submit to Zodiac he actually denies her food by attacking her and we just had to separate them.

Kioki ran away several times but eventually comes home tired and hungry. Zodiac escaped from the yard twice, the  first time the SPCA found him and they shot an RFID tag into his neck. We went out Zodiac hunting and eventually found him at the SPCA which cost us $35 to get him back but not before we furnished the SPCA with our personal details. The second time he escaped they found him again before we even knew he was gone. We received a telephone call from the SPCA asking us to collect Zodiac and bring along $35 or his release and thats when we realised he went AWOL again. Perhaps Kioki isn't such high maintenance dog as I initially thought.
